For a while now I have been itching to participate in one of the various gathering of web developers that happens from time to time. Now thanks to Smartfield I will finally get to make this next step in my professional developer career.

CakeFest 2010 takes place in Chicago, IL. I will be staying at the conference hotel with fellow Smartfield developer Justin Yost. I am very excited about the opportunity to ask the core developer of CakePHP some tough questions, and get to create some of the synergy with other developers that comes from proximity learning.

If you had been close enough to experience the moment pictured with your ears, you surely would have heard my exclamation of “we win!”. Maybe it would be more apt to say “I won!” because I feel like I won the lottery with my wife. She has changed my life in huge ways.

She shares my passion for Africa, Jesus, and adventure. She is smart, beautiful and has a huge heart. I think alot of the lyrics from that Moldy Peaches Song: “I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else”.

I took a trip with Omega Mission International to M’Swakini Tanzania in May-June of 2008, and experienced some of the most amazing moments of my life so far. This picture is of a man named Johann, and he was the owner/patriarch of the boma I slept on in a tent for the entire time I was in M’Swakini.

The Porchlight Community Church is the one I have been attending for the past almost three years, and this was one of the most rewarding web design / development projects I have ever undertaken. This was a project that I took a template from the RocketTheme database, and fit it perfectly with our community and needs.

New Mexico Mountain

The hazy dust blown plain below the Sandia Mountains that was really being beat up by the wind, which is exactly why we sought the refuge of the high forest later that evening.

One of the things I wish I spent more time developing a passion for is backpacking. Luckily I have a friend named Scott Smith who is constantly giving me opportunities to explore the great outdoors in expert fashion. On the particular trip where I captured this photo we had taken a large sweeping trip through New Mexico, and were leaving the Tent Rock National Monument and headed toward Albuquerque, NM for a stop at REI before a night of camping in the Sandia Mountains.
